Wendesday is for writing

I’ve said it before… but it’s a continual theme in my life so it will get said again… it’s easy to get caught up in the details and lose the bigger picture.

I’m supposed to be a writer but some weeks I find I have barely written anything and certainly very little of any substance. This blog was supposed to be an exercise in writing… but it now seems more like therapy (useful, but not necessarily flexing my literary muscles).

In light of that, I have decided to establish a new element of this blog. From now on Wednesdays are for writing. Each week I’ll pick a new writing start (a word of a phrase from which a piece of narrative flows, examples would be ‘silence’ or ‘motherhood’ or ‘loss’) and see what flows through the keyboard. I can’t promise they’ll all be gems but I will hope for a little inspiration along the way.

What I would like are some ideas. I’d love to generate a new list of writing starts from which I can work. Please, take a moment and comment with a few possible writing starts. I have a mental list of some writing starts but fresh ideas can only inspire fresh prose.

Also, I’d love to host some guest posts. Should anyone like to try a writing start and produce their own essay, I’d be happy to consider posting it.
