I have surpassed my fundraising goal for preventing cancer. I am so excited…
… and I love the donation, and the donor, that put me over the top.
The person to take me past my $1,000 goal was my mother.
I love that she supports me in all I do. She is a regular reader and, sometimes, that makes me want to censor what I say. I am careful about what I say about everyone who makes an appearance, not matter how small, in this blog… I have no desire to air any one’s dirty laundry (except mine… I do that a little too freely).
When it comes to discussing cancer I find the road a little rockier. I hesitate to air my fears when the woman who created me is facing those fears head on… but at the same time, as a person who is reluctant to talk about her feelings face to face, perhaps the freedom of a blog is a good thing for me.
What I do know is this cancer journey has been good for me. I am much more aware of what I am putting into my body, and those of my family members. I feel more in control of my health and I feel happier in general.
Cancer may, or may not, be part of my future but I am learning to find peace with that reality.
I want to thank everyone who helped me reach my fundraising goal. If we can prevent even one case of cancer it will be worth it. As a society we don’t take very much responsibility for our health but we can change that one person at a time.
PS – I won’t be actively fundraising anymore but I am still accepting donations at https://www.gifttool.com/athon/MyFundraisingPage?ID=1448&AID=1027&PID=120604&Preview=Y
